I was inspired to paint this scene as a storm rolled in over the Brewster Flats. After a rainy night, the morning brought captivating skies, with a small strip of light breaking through the storm clouds. Despite this time of year usually drawing crowds to the beach, I stumbled upon an empty shore and vibrant marshland, where terns were busily feasting on the high tide bounty.
